Summer Fun filled with everyday being a
G'day for Reading

Come in
any time after June 19 and sign up for our summer reading program. The
program is open for anyone birth on up to senior citizens!
We will be
reading all about Australia, its regions, people and animals.
Suggested titles will be available but you are free to read whatever you
want!
Special
programs include:
-
Joseph B.
Carringer will share his knowledge of the history and art of the
Australian musical instrument the didgeridoo. We will hear it played
in a variety of ways and be able to play along with Joseph using rhythm
sticks. An evening of stories and music await you at the Madbury Town
Hall on Tuesday July 8 at 6:30 p.m.
-
July 17 at
10:30 a.m. at the ORHS. One of our favorite experiences is spending time
with the Wildlife Encounters Zoo. The program will bring us several
animals from down under - Red-necked Wallaby, Carpet Python and others await
us. If you have never seen a Wildlife Encounters program you have
really missed a wonderful fun and educational experience! They are so
great that we booked them before they left us last year. Any children
who come dressed in Khakis will get a magnet and the best Steve Erwin
look-alike will get a Wildlife Encounters T-shirt. (Wildlife
Encounters will donate $10 to the late Steve Erwin's Conservation Fund for
each library booking).
-
July
21 at 6 p.m. at the Madbury Town Hall ~ A very special event for middle
school, high school and adult readers will be participation in building
and playing your very own didgeridoo! Joseph Carringer will return to
run a workshop for 12 people. Priority will be given to Madbury
residents with a wait-list for those from other towns. Sign-up at
the Madbury library. This event is supported in part by a grant
from the NHSL and donations from the Byrne Foundation, CHILIS, Cogswell
Benevolent Trust, and the NH Library Association.
-
July 24 at
10:30 a.m. at the Madbury Town Hall. This will be a g'day for science magic.
Science educators from the Boston Museum of Science will show us the
science behind some of the magic you have seen in the past. Call Nancy
at 743-1400 if you can help her with a hands-on activity after the
presentation. While toddlers are welcome and will enjoy the show, this
program is geared for school age children. It comes to us thanks to a
special grant from the Boston Museum of Science.
-
July 31 at
6:30 at the Madbury Town Hall Rachel Cilley will take us on a "Wildlife
Safari Tour" of Australia and its animals. The program is based on her
six months spent living in Australia.
