Enjoy the holiday weekend!

It's Almost Time for the Madbury Day Sale!
Saturday, June 3, 9:00-2:00

Looking for gently used books for readers of all ages?  Please come to this great once-a-year sale, which raises funds to support the library's Summer Reading Program.

And, if you need to weed your own book collection, we'll happily accept books, DVDs, and audios through Thusday, June 1.  Please make sure they are in good condition, which means no water damage, mildew, ripped pages, etc.  Thank you!

New Pass to Bedrock Gardens, Lee
Next Open House Weekend is June 3 & 4

Thanks to a generous grant from the Friends of the Madbury Library, we are now able to offer passes to Lee's Bedrock Gardens.  One pass, which admits two, is available to each day the garden is open, May through September.  Please contact the library to reserve a pass for the day you want.

Read with Grover Returns Monday, June 5, 3:00-5:00
Perfect for kids who love both dogs and reading

We now offer two chances each month for children to read to a canine friend.   Rosa the English Setter has now retired but her son Grover is with us on the first Monday of each month, October through June. Then Digby, a Cavalier King Charles spaniel, will be with us on the third Monday.  Call or stop in to sign up for a 20-minute time slot between 3:00 and 5:00.

Daytime Book Group
Monday, May 22, 3:00 PM
This group will discuss Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly. Want to know the story behind the recently released and widely acclaimed film?  Join us for this book discussion!  Many extra copies of the book are available.
Our Evening Book Group
Monday, June 5 , 7:00 pm
Join us for a discussion of Songs of Willow Frost by Jamie Ford, the author of the highly acclaimed Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and  Sweet.  Set in Seattle's Chinatown during the Depression era, this novel was described by one reviewer as "tender, powerful, and deeply satisfying."  The book group will not meet during July and August.
Writing Group
Our next meeting will be Monday, June 12, 5:15 pm
Interested in writing? Join the Madbury Library Writing Group! Whether you write memoir, poetry or fiction, this a wonderful opportunity to share your work and receive input from other group members. Newcomers are always welcome to join the group for a fun, low-key and rewarding experience! We meet the second Monday of every month, September through June, at 5:15 pm.

Congratulations, MPL's Kayla Morin!
NH Children's Librarian of the Year
Our very own Kayla Morin has been given the state's highest honor for a children's librarian in New Hampshire.  Nominated by the Goodwin Library in Farmington, where she also works (and lives), Kayla received the award at the annual CHILIS (Children's Librarians of NH) conference held in Manchester on March 30, 2017.  Cited for her energy, resourcefulness, and dedication to early literacy initiatives, Kayla has helped make Goodwin a Family Place Library (one of only two in New Hampshire).  She spends only a third of her work week in Madbury but her commitment to young readers and their families has left its mark here as well.

Thank You!
We appreciate your support for our new library at Madbury's Town Meeting

New outreach offering at Carriage Hill Assisted Living
Did you know that each month, Children's Librarian Kayla Morin hosts a story time at Little Tree Education Center?  In March Library Director Susan Sinnott began a monthly book discussion at Carriage Hill Assisted Living, scheduled for each second Thursday at 2:00 PM.  Happy to serve such a wide age range!
